FROM AROUND THE WORLD
My name is Ruth Ellen MacVane and I am an educator in Yarmouth, Maine, USA. I am currently putting together a book of journal entries from around the world. This, I think, is an ideal way to exhibit the similarities and differences of growing up in different environments from a very blunt and honest source.
I am specifically looking for journal entries written by eight to eleven year old girls on May 1, 2012. The entries I hope to find will reveal the thoughts, reflections or just plain day to day activities of a nine-year old girl growing up in her particular culture.
I have spent my life working in education and I think we can learn a lot from children. My resume and recommendations can be seen at ruthmacvane.blogspot.com.
· Write in your journal on May 1, 2012. How did you spend the day? What did you think about, worry about, dream about… ? (There will be girls your age journaling about what they are doing at the same time.)
· Entries for the book and any questions should be sent to email@example.com. Your teacher should be able to help you make a copy of your journal entry for you to submit either as an attachment to an email or by snail mail. Entries will be accepted from May 1, 2012 until June 1, 2012. Mailed entries should be postmarked by June 1, 2012 and mailed to: Ruth Ellen MacVane 892 Island Avenue Long Island, Maine 04050
· A signed release will be required for publication in the book.
· All winners and their schools will receive a copy of the book when published.
